Zakat Givers

Understanding your obligation and fulfilling it with ease through ZakathPay

Who is a Zakat Giver?

A Zakat Giver (also called a Muzakki) is any Muslim who possesses wealth above the Nisab threshold for a full lunar year. Giving Zakat is not just a financial act — it is an act of worship and purification of the soul.

"Take from their wealth a charity by which you purify them and cause them increase." — Qur'an 9:103

Types of Zakat Givers

Salaried Individuals

Employees with a fixed monthly income whose savings exceed the Nisab threshold are obligated to give Zakat annually.

Business Owners

Entrepreneurs and traders must pay Zakat on their business inventory, profits, and liquid assets.

Farmers & Agriculturists

Those who grow crops must give Zakat on their agricultural produce — 10% if naturally irrigated, 5% if artificially irrigated.

Property Investors

Rental income and profits from property investment are subject to Zakat after deducting valid expenses.

Investors & Shareholders

Those with stocks, mutual funds, or other investments must calculate and pay Zakat on their portfolio value.

Gold & Silver Holders

Anyone holding gold above 87.48g or silver above 612.36g must pay 2.5% Zakat on the total value.
